Figurative and Organic

An exhibition of drawing by Sydney based artist, Veronika Kristensen and Dr Neville Dawson held at the Corner Gallery from 19th to 23rd March.

Veronika Kristensen was born in Denmark and migrated to Australia in early childhood.

She gained a Diploma in Fine Arts at The National Art School, Newcastle in 1974, and was awarded the A. Dottilo Rubbo Prize for best overall performance.

Later in the late 1970’s she lectured in life drawing at Newcastle College of Advanced Education.

After moving to Sydney in 1979 she took up a position as Art Director at View Productions, where she designed and illustrated books, magazines and posters.

In 1984 she began further studies at the City Art Institute and gained a Graduate Diploma in Professional Art Studies and soon after was appointed to a teaching position in art and graphic design at Liverpool TAFE, where she taught life drawing, perspective drawing, and Art History until 1989.

Dr Neville Dawson is a Doctor of Creative Arts and a Visual Arts educator of many years standing. He is a portrait painter who has a long interests in art history, collecting 20th and 21st century art, Persian rugs and antiques. His artworks are in many public and private collections around the world.
