Amy Elizabeth
Artist Statement
My artworks are a fusion of diverse techniques, elements and mediums. I love to combine spontaneous mark making with more controlled painting in areas of negative space. I particularly love allowing the paint to do its thing and often incorporate drips, splatters and areas where the colours swirl and combine themselves in a more random, less controlled fashion. I love to work in layers; hiding a lot but also allowing some of the hidden layers to come through. I love these little glimpses of the worlds underneath.
Through abstraction, and the use of vibrant colours, I aim to convey a feeling, mood or memory and particularly, to enable the viewer to become a participant in the creative experience.

Dominique Smallcombe
Starting with her degree in Visual Arts from UNSW and her early career in the Australian film industry, she uses her artistic practice to express subjects relating to the natural world.
Dominique’s paintings have a shared interest in reimagined natural places that are not readily available to the human eye.
They refer to deep subterranean spaces of hidden underwater worlds as well as light and translucent vaporous atmospheres.
The unavailability of visual observation from the objective world allows for intuitive projections and felt responses to arise.
These impressions are presented through organic movements, expressive colours and related forms that coalesce into the resulting abstract worlds of her paintings.
